Elaeis Oleifera Kernel Oil description

_Elaeis oleifera_ kernel oil, also known as batana oil, is extracted from the kernels of the American palm oil tree. The American oil palm is the only tree of its genus that grows naturally in the Western hemisphere. Like its better-known cousin, _Elaeis guineensis_ kernel oil, from the African palm oil tree, batana oil has moisturizing and antioxidant properties. Unfortunately, at this stage, there’s less research regarding batana oil’s skin-specific benefits. Batana oil is also touted as a good ingredient for hair and scalp. While its emollient properties make it beneficial for dry hair and scalp, claims that it actually helps grow hair have very little evidence so far to back them up. The independent Cosmetic Ingredient Review has ruled _Elaeis oleifera_ kernel oil safe in its current use in cosmetics. As with most plant oils, it can be used up to a 100% concentration if desired.
