Jasminum Sambac (Jasmine) Flower Extract description

_Jasminum sambac_ (Jasmine) flower extract comes from a plant more commonly known as Arabian jasmine or sambac jasmine. It’s native to South Asian and now cultivated worldwide. The flower is well-known for its sweet fragrance that is used to impart scent to perfumes and teas. While sambac jasmine does contain antioxidant compounds, the volatile fragrance components it contains put skin at risk for irritation. These compounds include linalool and geraniol. Both of these compounds cross-react with oxygen and trigger oxidative damage on and within skin. It’s best to enjoy jasmine tea or a natural jasmine flower candle instead and steer clear of this ingredient when it comes to putting it on your skin!
