Lady's Mantle Extract description

Lady’s mantle extract is a plant extract derived from the perennial, _Alchemilla vulgaris_, that can offer skin antioxidant and soothing benefits but can also be a skin sensitizer. Lady’s mantle extract is rich in a plethora of compounds, including tannins, that exhibit antioxidant properties. Although they’re antioxidants, the tannins in this plant are also astringent compounds that help temporarily reduce the size of pores and reduce sebum production through the denaturing of proteins on skin. Due to this reduction in sebum production and their potency, tannins can cause skin sensitivity and dryness, as well as increase the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles due to skin dryness. In cosmetics and skin care, suppliers recommend using this plant extract in concentrations between 1%-5% when supplied in a water-based blend. Tannins can be removed from this lady’s mantle. For information on whether the lady’s mantle extract in your product contains tannins, reach out to the product’s manufacturer.
